2) If you have to go to pitch, take independent
advice
3) Only ask the incumbent to join in if theyve
a serious chance of winning
4) Be fair to all but be especially fair
to the incumbent
5) Spend as long as it takes on getting the criteria
right - be true to your own agenda, and dont let
it change during the process
6) Deliver a terrific brief - be very clear about
eg: are you looking for a short term fix or a long term
marriage? And stick to it
7) Define the process and ensure its tailored
to you off the shelf solutions tend not to work
8) Work to a realistic timetable and stick to it
9) Dont change the judging team during the
process
10) Its never too early to talk about money,
and if you leave it to after the whole pitch process youve
left it too late
The nature of our formal OJEC tender procedure meant we were
inundated with creative, media and PR agency submissions.
Working with AAI we were able to apply robust screening
criteria to select our pitch list, followed by a fair
and even-handed selection process. We are delighted with
the results we have achieved. Steve Trigg,
