A graduate of University College Dublin, Brian joined Irish Distillers as brand manager in 1974. He became a board Director of Irish international advertising in 1978 before joining Guinness Ireland as Marketing Manager (Lagers) in 1980. Brian moved to the international division of Guinness in 1988 becoming Director of Marketing at its worldwide division based in London, Marketing Director in Guinness Malaysia (1990) and Marketing Director in Guinness Africa (1994).
He left Guinness in 1996 to complete a MBA degree at the Smurfit Business School in 1997.
Around the time David Wethey was moving from the agency to the client side, Brian was doing the reverse and joined McCann Erickson where he was Managing Director from 1997 to 2001. Brian’s huge experience in both sides of the business is reflected in his role as Managing Partner, where he has special responsibility for its Irish operations.
When not playing golf or watching rugby Brian is an active member of the Marketing Institute in Ireland.
